Several persons were, yesterday, injured in multiple accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
The incident, which occurred at 11.30a.m. at the Oworonshoki end of the bridge, involved a Mazda bus, a BMW SUV and a Toyota Corolla
News gathered that the fully-loaded Mazda passenger bus, with number plates FST 668 XR, left Obalende for Oshodi. However, on reaching Church Bus Stop, it had a flat tyre, veered off its lane and hit the BMW. It finally rested on the median, forcing other cars to stop abruptly.
Eyewitnesses said passengers in the Mazda bus sustained varying degrees of injuries. A male passenger, who occupied the front seat, was flung out of the vehicle.
The passenger, who was clad in a white polo, blue jacket and blue jeans, laid on the expressway until the arrival of the Rapid Response Squad, policemen from Oworonshoki Division and officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA.
LASTMA’s Commander in charge of Oworonshoki, Mr. Shittu Adeola, who confirmed the incident, said the injured were rushed to the emergency unit at Toll gate.
He said: “No life was lost. Passengers in the Mazda bus were the only ones affected. The injured are responding to treatment.”
